The Lower Your Testosterone, The Worse Are Your COVID Struggles

By Johnathan P Cumberwell

That there is a link between COVID 19 and testosterone (and erectile dysfunction) is not news.

I have previously written about this here, hereherehere and here.

But now new research just came out with new data.

This study was conducted by researchers at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, Italy, and included 591 men.

What did this study find?

The study found that 89.8% of symptomatic COVID-19 patients had hypogonadism compared with 14.9% of healthy controls, and 33% of men with asymptomatic COVID-19.

In other words, almost all patients that had COVID symptoms also had very low testosterone levels (hypogonadism).

The study also found that mean total testosterone levels were significantly lower in patients with symptomatic COVID-19 (2.5 nmol/L), compared with healthy patients (10.4 nmol/L), and men with asymptomatic COVID-19 (11.8 nmol/L).

And lastly, low testosterone was associated with a 33% higher risk of death.

Wow – pretty interesting!

What does all this mean?

Well, first of all, it means that the lower the level of your testosterone, the higher is the likelihood that you would need intensive care, intubation, and long hospital stays – if you were to catch COVID 19.

Secondly, it indicates that testosterone is crucial for your immune system, and that you want a high testosterone level. Not just for protection against COVID 19, but against diseases and invaders in general.

And how do you maintain a high level of testosterone?

The best way to do this, is to live a super healthy life. Which means eating well, exercising often, stressing little, etc.

If you want to learn 12 actions you can implement to increase your testosterone levels, take a look at this in-depth guide.
